Supporting trade associations

The following trade associations are integral to Western States College of Construction.
These organizations play an active role in supporting the mission and vision of the college by serving on the board of directors, JATC committees and by providing financial support to college operations. 

Rocky Mountain Mechanical Contractors Association is a trade association representing mechanical, plumbing and HVAC/R contractors across the state of Colorado, as well as Wyoming, Nebraska and South Dakota. Under various names, the association has promoted the industry and its members since 1889. Today, RMMCA serves the needs of more than 160 member companies. 

While our general mission is to make the Rocky Mountain region the best place to be a mechanical contractor, our work is primarily focused on legislative and regulatory advocacy, labor relations, education and training, and fostering relationships within the industry. 

SMACNA represents a broad spectrum of contractors who use sheet metal to fabricate and build metal HVAC systems, ductwork and architectural metal in industrial, commercial, architectural, and residential markets. 

·       Commercial HVAC systems for office buildings, commercial, and retail sites – Sheet metal contractors within the commercial sector are responsible for installing HVAC systems in a wide range of settings. Commercial sheet metal jobs ensure spaces are comfortable and safe for use by building occupants.

·       Industrial plant HVAC and ventilation systems – Sheet metal contractors working in the industrial sector touch a wide variety of projects ranging from custom installations to long term maintenance and repairs for industrial clients.

·       Architectural projects, including stadiums, metallic building skins, roofs, and structures – SMACNA architectural sheet metal contractors are at the forefront of the design-build era of metals use. Architects and real estate owners rely on architectural contractors to collaborate on designs and to make sure they can be constructed to the design concepts.

·       Testing and balancing HVAC systems – SMACNA contractors that perform HVAC Testing, Adjusting and Balancing, are usually referred to as TAB contractors. These contractors provide specialized services includes performing air and hydronic measurements on the HVAC systems.

·       Residential HVAC – SMACNA residential members provide highly professional residential and light commercial work to property owners and management companies.
